state51 to Reissue The Trailblazing Chilean Group's Magnum Opus, 'Alturas de Macchu Picchu' for Record Store Day 2025
With words by legendary Chilean poet Pablo Neruda and music by Los Jaivas, 1981’s ‘Alturas de Macchu Picchu’ blends prog acid rock of the time with deep Andean folk to produce a singular record - mirroring the approach of UK bands such as Fairport and Steeleye, but taking a distinctly Latin direction.

"We toured the UK with Bo Ningen and our two bands immediately became friends. The idea of a collaboration came about quite casually, and later we had a very skeletal demo for a narrative song called First Snow. It felt like the perfect opportunity to try something, so we sent the demo around to everyone and gave no specific instructions at all; just that they should respond to the track however they wanted..."
