The inspiration for the 51st edition of Teleplasmiste's 'Of Nature and Electricity' came from an 1881 treatise on the pendulograph, a victorian drawing instrument which was used to illustrate the relationship between music and mathematics. In this book, the ratios between elements of the pendulograph are adjusted to create drawings based on different harmonic intervals- the building blocks of music.

The box is made from tough composite panel with an invisible magnetic closure. It’s decorated with custom designed marbled paper, with a unique pendulograph mono print in the centre.



Marbled paper also adorns in the inside of the box, along with a letter-pressed bookplate, signed and dated to authenticate it as an atelier 51st edition.



The record was lathe cut in-house, and is protected with a soft anti-static sleeve.



Also contained in the box is a hand-bound book containing 6 original pendulograph drawings. These were made with a pendulograph constructed specially for this purpose. The front and back of the book feature risographed facsimiles of plates from the original 1881 treatise, which help to give a deeper understanding of the theory behind these extraordinary drawings.
