Lou Terry / Yellow Top
We're proud to release the new single from Lou Terry, Yellow Top.
Lou Terry is a South London-based songwriter, musician and genre-mangler. There’s a sense of slightly mad scientist-esque approaches to Lou’s songwriting. From live set, to bedroom recording, to remix, to studio take, the songs themselves reflect this instability. They’re crooked, full of sharp twists and turns, they bloom and recede, tower and crash.
Yellow Top is a concoction of palm-muted Weezer fuzz and whimsical folk, sensitively combined into a track that is rich with energy, depth and creativity. Set against a background of chattering feedback, Lou uses figurative lyrics to evoke “not being wise to the future, in the sense of not being able to know how certain choices might make you feel, or what they mean, until you try them”.

Hotel Lux / National Team
Tune in to Hotel
Lux's new single and football banger: National
Team.
On the new single,
the band say, “The tune was
conceived when I was sat watching England’s National Football Team play on
the TV whilst tucking into a very sad takeaway, watching people my age and
considerably younger #winning at life.”
Filmed at Haringey Borough FC, the video finds Hotel Lux and friends displaying their various ball skills, recreating the magic of Maradona and Zidane while asking the age-old question of what might have been.

Grove / Sound of the Underground
A few weeks ago we released Grove's cover of Girls Aloud's pop hit Sound of the Underground via state51's newly formed singles label GREED.
Doubling down on the D’n’B stylings of the original and adding a bashment twist, Grove moves the song into a propulsive new territory. The bass hits that extra bit harder, the lyrics given an extra sense of bite and bounce with Grove’s winding delivery. The song was a permanent fixture in the acclaimed artists festival sets and created havoc throughout the summer months.
Speaking of the song Grove says, “I first listened to this tune aged 5, and it's been eternally etched into my psyche since. Girls Aloud were tapping into the future with this tune. DnB x Surf Rock x RnB vibes, mad?!?”
“I whipped up this evil Bristol-soaked, bashment-heavy edition cover while touring, and have been playing it out at festivals throughout Europe, inspiring big queer mosh pits and walls of death.”
Hope you have a great weekend!
